The best windsurfing spots in Croatia

Volosko, Opatija
Preluk Bay

Opatija, often called the Nice of the Adriatic, is one of the most popular tourist resorts in Croatia and a place with the longest tourist tradition on the eastern coast of the Adriatic.
Preluk windsurfingPreluk, a naturally protected bay near Volosko and Opatija, is another popular windsurfing place in Croatia.
During summer months and early fall best time to go windsurfing are mornings, from the sunrise until 8 am. This is because of favorable wind tramontana which blows from the north.
Tramontana blows only during good weather conditions when the sky is clear and it is a result of the temperature difference between land and sea. It begins in the evening but the greatest power gets early in the morning with 4-5 sometimes up to 7 bf. Waves in Preluk bay aren't especially high, up to 30 cm or no waves at all.
Western side of the bay, near auto camping Preluk is the place to experience tramontana in its fullest.
