Krk
island
Vrbnik
At
the south of the island (37 km from the bridge of Krk),
Vrbnik is typical old Mediterranean city situated on the
48 meters high cliff. Vrbnik has always been a favorite
venue for poets and artists, a romantic attraction due to
its beautiful panorama on top of the hill. Vrbnik produces
famous “Vrbnicka Zlahtina” wine.
Taking a walk along the pine forest while watching the waves
break on the rocks and the sunset, fills you up with an
amazing mixture of astonishment, happiness and fulfillment.
The entire settlement is one historic monument, the best
known Croatian castle-town, packed with glagolitic messages
(it was Krk's center for glagolitic scholars for many centuries).
You'll experience one of the most beautiful sunsets.
The most known beach is Zgribnica, located in its
immediate closeness. It is an urban beach surrounded by
steep cliffs and well protected from strong winds. The water
is absolutely clean, there are showers, changing cabins
and a restaurant.
Near Vrbnik there are numerous bays and coves with attractive
beaches.
Potovosce
is an extraordinary beautiful pebbly beach near Vrbnik.
After the asphalt road was made it become very popular.
There is a small bar, toilettes and other facilities. If
you're looking for some privacy the best thing is to take
a walk along the shore and choose one of the many lonely
coves.
Risika is a smallish settlement 6 km north west of Vrbnik,
with a beautiful small sandy beach in Sv. Marko Bay, just
behind the village, which is also an attractive diving point.
