Korcula

Korcula beaches
Korcula
is often refereed as the romantic island. It is a 30 miles
long and no more than 5 miles wide island. Neighboring island
of Hvar is another popular place for romantic couples but
two islands have completely different feel. While Hvar,
and particulary the town of Hvar, has a cosmopolitan and
upscale feel, Korcula island is a perfect place for couples
seeking to hide away.
You can wlak romantic streets of old Korcula town, or you
can enjoy hills and valleys of the interior, and nearly
200 unspoilt coves and beaches. Perfect for swimming and
underwater diving Korcula is ideal for an active holiday
with some excellent walks through pine woods and many caves.
Windsurfing and sailing are also available.
The
nearest beaches to Korcula town are to the southeast but
a short trip by water taxi from the old harbour to the Skoji
islands offers a better choice. The nearest is Badija
with are a couple of cafe bars. A wonderful restaurant with
home-made food can be found on the island of Stupe.
Romantic couples, and everybody else for that matter, can
also rent a small motor boat and sail your way to Skoji
by yourself.
Best thing to do is to hire a scooter and head for one of
the secluded bays on the southern side of the island. Pupnatska
Luka, a horseshoe-shaped pebble bay backed by forests
and cliffs, is as romantic as Croatia gets. Sandy beaches
can be found near Lumbarda village.
