Brijuni
Brijuni
is one of Croatian National Parks and certainly one of the
most interesting and original places on Croatian coast,
maybe even surreal. One thing is for sure, there is no other
place like Brijuni.
Islands
fame started in early 20th century when it became one of
Europe's aristocracy popular summer resort. Archduke Franz
Ferdinand was just one of the noble guests. After the WWII
Marshal Tito picked the islands as his summer residence
where he entertained many holywood and pop stars, world's
politicians. Fidel Castro, Ho Chi Minh, Gadaffi, Queen Elizabeth
II, Princess Caroline of Monaco, Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida,
Josephine Baker and Elizabeth Taylor, were just a few of
Tito's eclectic guests. For decades the islands were closed
for tourists and local people. Today, the islands are a
holiday destionation once again with strangest offer on
the whole of the Adriatic coast.
Where else you can find fossilised dinsaur footprints, giant
greenhouses, pigeon aviary, donkeys, ostriches, deers, squirrels
and hares and other animals freely loose, well tanned
parks full of Roman ruins, among them one of the most fascinating
Roman villas in Verige bay, beautiful sunsets, old Meditterranean
holm oak trees or pine trees and pleasant shingle beaches
in the same time?
In addition there are hotels, golf, tennis, polo courts,
and bicycle rent which is a great way to explore the island
of Veli Brijun, the largest of the islands in the group,
or you can take a ride on a small tourist train on wheels.
How about renting a electric golf car and tour the island
just the two of you?
The archipelago of Brijuni is an extraordinary blend of
natural, historical and cultural heritage.
Maybe someone will be surprised Brijuni are listed in "romantic"
section, but we assure you they can be a wonderful romantic
day trip from Pula or maybe even a honymoon destination.
