Makarska promenade
The
town of Makarska (13000 inhabitants) is situated in the
centre of the famous tourist resort Makarska Riviera, extending
from Brela in the west to Gradac in the east, in the total
length of 60 km. This small town of exceptional beauty lies
at foot of the impressive mountain Biokovo, and it is very
rich in magnificent beaches, surrounded by olive-groves
and pine wood, protected by two peninsulas Osejava and St.
Peter from the south, linked to the Adriatic road. All of
these make the town an interesting and dynamic tourist resort.
The town developed in the shape of amphitheater along the
coast, at the foot of Biokovo. It consists of the old core
of the Mediterranean type, and the newer part with hotels,
restaurants, shops and auto camp Park and pine forest border
the 1,500 meters long beach in Donja Luka.
A wide promenade planted with palm tree streches along the
bay and the city beach - here you will find atractive shops,
restaurants, coffeeshops, ice cream parlors, terraces with
live music and souvenir shops. Part of the promenade is
Sveti
Petar (St. Peter) wooded peninsula, situated practically
in the center of Makarska. It is a urban park with many
pedestrian paths, a lighthouse and popular beach with a
naturist section.
Baska Voda is another major tourist resort on Makarska
Riviera. Baska Voda is offering clear sea, beautiful beaches
with pine woods, high quality hotels and excellent restaurants.Like
Makarska, it has a long pebbly beach (2km) and a promenade
lined with palm trees and a wealth of cafes and restaurants.
Beside for walking, promenade is perfect for jogging and
bicycling.
