Hvar
island
Jelsa
Hvar
is one of the most beautiful and certainly the hippiest
island on the Adriatic and a popular tourist destination.
Jelsa is a small port on the north central part of the island
of Hvar. The town is built around a wide natural inlet that
attracts holiday visitors and visiting yachts. On the both
sides of the harbor there are wooded coves ideal for relaxation
and swimming. Thick pine forests, high poplars (which is
quite rare on the Dalmatian islands), nice sand beaches,
vineyards and olive-groves render Jelsa and its surroundings
a special attraction. East of Jelsa is a sand cove called
Mina, and on the small Glavica peninsula the public beach
Soline. Since the sixties the islet of Zecevo has been frequented
by nudists, which makes Jelsa one of the pioneers of nudist
tourism on the Croatian coast.
This
season (2005) new club is going to open its doors in Jelsa.
